Flat Head Syndrome

Flat head syndrome, also known as plagiocephaly or positional molding happens when one part of the head is flattened due to continued pressure on one spot. This can happen if baby holds his head in a particular way when lying down. Now that babies are placed on their backs to sleep to reduce the risk of cot death, misshapen heads are now more common than they were a generation ago.

Prevention

A key prevention strategy for developing a misshapen head is to place baby on his tummy as much as possible during waking hours.

Baby Toys Australia

At Little Music Makers we have some wonderful tools for helping make tummy time an enjoyable experience.  A playmat or playgym is a great way to encourage a baby to spend time on his tummy. We have a range of these mats and the Skip Hop Owl Tummy Time Mat is a compact and practical one that can taken anywhere.
